Detached Everyday - A Trip To The Poconos

I struggled a lot with posting this. It should of been out a long time ago. I suppose I couldn't find the words for it because I was so anxious about people taking this into the account of if the Poconos experience is good or bad. I want it to be emphasized that this isn't really a review! I think experiences in Second Life vary based on your interests for the record, and one person's perspective of a particular place or event shouldn't influence your own! I just really wanted to share some of the things I experienced during this beautiful vacation.

The Poconos was a winter wonderland of resort splendor, with beautiful scenery everywhere you looked. The cabins, varying in size and location were cleverly placed, to merge the guest within the scenery while also granting privacy and winter glamor that truly feels like a getaway. I went with Mateo Canon Neil in January, and we had the greatest time and a few days to spend time together as well as experience all that it had to offer.

We ended up in the quaint Maple cabin that I enjoyed because it was very cozy and intimate and I loved the large windows of the build that brought the outside in with us [without the cold], thou I'll admit took some getting used to. For a weekend away, it was a perfect size for us to have some privacy and recap all the adventures we experienced at the end of the day together, or just take some sweet couple pictures uninterrupted.

There were many activities, including hunting, sledding or skiing, a monorail to ride, hot air balloon rides, and some really nice things to sign up for, such as a Spa.

We signed up for a cooking class, and learned a lot of new things along with rekindling a previous hobby in DFS, and the instructor was amazing and inviting, and I hope to catch more of her classes if she does them anywhere.

We were particularly impressed with the hot air balloon, that with the right windlights, is a stunning and beautiful experience looking down from so high and viewing the stars. I ended up taking several shots while up there to get the perfect shot.

Mateo had a good time with the hunting, and although I didn't shoot, I was able to follow along with a horse and experience the whole thing with him and that was actually really fun to do on the mountain while he did. I am really fond of horse riding personally, and wished I could of had more places to ride the horse around. Far as the hunting it was nothing overly complicated but also engaging, and I should of just joined in. Half of why I didn't was mostly thinking it would be difficult.

I think the highlight for me was the dinner that we went to. A lot of the Poconos experience was a merger of voicing on microphone and written roleplay, which leaned more in the voicing, but the dinner was fully written roleplay which I, personally as a written roleplayer, enjoyed the most.
The view we had from out table was absolutely amazing, and the restaurant and menu was beautifully put together, with an elegant but cozy feel to it. I was a bit sad that we were the only people in the restaurant at the time we went, but it didn't take away from the experience overall.
The waiter was polite, and interacted with out roleplay accordingly, which of course was fun to have. We had choices on appetizers, a main course, and then a desert, with time in-between to be able to interact with each dish that was manually placed out from our waiter. Thou I found it too short [only because I can be quite WINDED when it comes to written roleplay of that sort] I think besides the cooking class, the dinner was one of my favorite activities.

We explored, we had a great time, we met a few people, and got to say hello to some old associates, family and friends who were also at the resort. Most importantly, we had a amazing time together in a beautifully designed location, which is some of the magic of Second Life overall, and what I find absolutely amazing. People like those who created and worked at the Poconos resort certainly deserve praise for presenting and bringing to life something from real life into our virtual world the way they had. I will certainly be booking any future resorts they plan out if they do.
