A Browser based access to SecondLife? It's here!
Starting today, a wonderful feature is being tested for SecondLife that you can try out yourself. Project Zero is a browser based login, with no download or GPU required. For users who have previously used other virtual worlds such as IMVU, you can appreciate the significance and convenience of Linden Labs bringing in this tool, making it not only easier to access SecondLife in multiple places, but also eliminate the constant issue of many users with systems that are older who struggle with the current specs require to access it.
To try out this Beta version of SecondLife, please do the following: visit zero.secondlife.com.
Currently, this version is not recommended to be used to replace your viewer. Users only get 10 minutes at a time per user on this browser before you are kicked off. It is still in early experimental development, and the only viewer is currently only for the Second Life viewer.
Remember that this site is very new and is mostly for testing purposes, so if you find any issues with it, there is a feedback portion where you can share any issues you find to Linden Lab. You cannot upload files, voice chat is not yet enabled, and chat history and preferences are not stored across sessions. As feedback is given and Project Zero develops, we will see all these things implemented along with your favorite viewers.
Do be patient when trying to log in, as there is only limited slots available to try out Project Zero, but enjoy and help this concept grow if you love it! I personally am excited to see this come out! For official information about Project Zero, just follow the link here.
